For College students, I would suggest that you should go for a Refurbished Laptops these refurbished laptops are really good in functionality as well as in terms of prices and more over they are really good in their physical condition.
So I will suggest that you should check out these refurbished laptops at least have a glance them.
You better begin by learning a little bit about WordPress (which is not difficult btw). I advise you to download XAMPP to have a local apache web server (www.apachefriends.org/en/xampp.html) where you can install wordpress (wordpress.org) and test it locally.
Then you have to chose a theme that suits your site, there are hundreds of free quality themes or if you can afford it, go for a premium theme (20$ to 150$ in general).
After you get familiar with wordpress, you can install it on your live server, put your theme, and begin importing (copy / paste ? yeah). You have to chose between putting your old articles as posts or as pages, posts are good if you plan a blog-like site. Ther's also hundreds of free plugins for each single feature you may think about.
It's in there. It's probably categorized under Digital Elements.
I watched and enjoyed the video

There is an easy fix for you. it's a FREE plugin Called KB linker it does everything you described and it's fairly easy to use.
You can search for new plugins and type "kb linker" to install without having to download first.
I actually did a blog post about it not to long ago with more information.
All the links are in the resources box. Hope I answered your question.
