The first part is easy, picking a text. Simply, pick a book that you read in class that interests you, or was the least boring. Either way, you will have to read it again to write a good essay or just thesis, so pick something you enjoyed. Second, for the thesis: try to find one of the main points of the author or story. Just a general example that is not from a book, but for the sake of assuming you will be able to understand what I am talking about, here it is:
In the TV show The Simpson's, the writers have created Bart Simpson to be a typical teenage american boy who displays acts of misdeeds to gain attention in the hopes of 'fitting in'.
That was a bad thesis, but I hope you get the idea. Usually picking the main part of the story or the main character to write your thesis on is easiest.
your theisis statement is a statement that tells your feeling on a subject and explains your topic clearly…!
Since I don't know you, I can't say for sure, but choosing a song that you know, and shows off your individual personality is the best advice I can give. You want to show yourself off at your BEST! Don't learn something brand new for this if you don't have a lot of time. You want to be comfortable.
But I would definitely sing something uptempo versus something slow.
